The UN refugee agency (UNHCR) is pleased with Moldova’s steps towards accession to the two UN Conventions on Statelessness and the preparation of legislation on statelessness determination.
Late last month the Parliament passed laws on accession to the two UN conventions as well as the law on amendment and completion of certain legislative documents which will introduce national statelessness determination procedure.

On January 31, within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, the Minister Alexei Roibu had a meeting with Mr. Marcus Micheli, Deputy Head of the U.S. diplomatic mission in Moldova, Mr. Gregory M. Winstead, Head of Political and Economic Unit and Mr Jonathan Hayes, political-economic officer of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova.

On the 8th of December 2010, Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) organized the 4th International Donor Coordination Committee meeting with the participation of representatives of diplomatic missions, international organizations and the State Chancellery.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the international donor support activities in 2010, provide an update on the ongoing MIA and police reform process, as well as to outline the MIA’s priorities for 2011.10.12.2010 -

Under this generic, on November 22, 2010, the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the support of Moldovan-Lithuanian Foundation “Center for the Study of European Integration” and the EU project in Advice of Public Policy, held a round table at Jolly Alon Hotel.
At the event, as experts, participated Mr. Danius Zilinskas, director of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Interior of Lithuania and Mr. Margus Kotter, Deputy Chief of Public Order Department of Estonian Ministry of Interior.

The feeling of personal security is the basic condition of the quality of life and may be most affected by crime. Thus, crime prevention has become one of the basic imperatives of MIA activity.
Ministry of Internal Affairs in collaboration with the Moldovan-Lithuanian Foundation “European Integration Studies Center” and the EU High Level Policy Advice Mission, financially supported by the European Union and UNDP Moldova, held on 3 November 2010, a roundtable on “Implementation of crime prevention policies”.

Moldovan police – the change has began
On August 13, 11.00 AM, at Vadul lui Vodă (IT Relax), the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova - Mr. Vladimir Filat will present the conclusions and recommendations of the workshop regarding the police reform in accordance to the EU standards and norms, an event taking place between 9-13 of August.
